This document gives guidance on the ways in which a facility management (FM) organization can influence organizational behaviours to achieve improved facility outcomes, including how it can engage, empower and influence users, service providers and other interested parties with one another for improved outcomes and user experience while interfacing with the built environment.

Consequently, and simultaneously, these behaviours can be harnessed to contribute to the achievement of the demand organization’s objectives and goals in an organizational sense, regardless of the type of organization or built environment involved. This is the fundamental link to the role of FM as defined in ISO 41001.

This document is intended to build upon the requirements in ISO 41001, which adheres to the Plan-Do Check-Act methodology.

Specification for visual strength grading of tropical hardwood timber

This document specifies requirements for strength grading tropical hardwood timber visually for structural use. The system of grading is a classification of the defect system whereby the effect of various defects on the strength of the piece is taken into account.

The timber shall at least be surface dry. For tropical hardwoods, visual strength grade of timber is classified as Select Structural Grade (SSG), Standard Structural Grade (ASG), Common Building Grade (CBG) and Hardwood Structural Grade (HSG).

Plastics piping systems for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage — Unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) — Part 1: Specifications for pipes, fittings and the systems

This document specifies the requirements for unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) solid wall pipes with smooth internal and external surfaces, extruded from the same formulation throughout the wall, fittings and piping systems intended to be used for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage under the following conditions:

a)    buried in ground outside the building structure (application area code "U"); and

b)    both buried in ground, within the building structure and outside the building (application area code "UD").

NOTE        The intended use is reflected in the marking of products by "U" or "UD".

It also specifies the test parameters for the test methods referred to in this document. This document covers a range of nominal sizes, a range of pipes and fittings series and a range of stiffness classes and gives recommendations concerning colours.

NOTE        It is the responsibility of the purchaser or specifier to make the appropriate selection from these aspects, taking into account their particular requirements and any relevant national regulations and installation practices or codes.

It is applicable to PVC-U pipes and fittings, their joints and to joints with components of other plastics and non-plastics materials intended for buried piping systems for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage.

This document gives guidance for the assessment of conformity of formulations, products and assemblies in accordance with the applicable part(s) of MS 979 intended to be included in the manufacturer’s quality plan as part of the quality management system and for the establishment of certification procedures.

It is recommended that the quality management system to conform to or is no less stringent than the relevant requirements to MS ISO 9001.

NOTE 1     If certification is involved, the certification body is preferably compliant with either MS ISO/IEC 17065 or MS ISO/IEC 17021-series, as applicable.

NOTE 2     A basic test matrix is given in Annex A.

In conjunction with other parts of MS 979 (see Foreword), this document is applicable to plastic piping systems made of unplasticized poly(vinyl chloride) (PVC-U) for non-pressure underground drainage and sewerage intended to be used under the following conditions:

1. buried in ground outside the building structure (application area code "U"), and
2. both buried in ground, within the building structure and outside the building structure (application area code "UD").
