The proposal to develop a new Malaysian Standard (MS) or for maintenance or translation of current MS can be submitted to JSM formally using New Work Item Proposal (NP) form.

Proposal for new MS is for national adoption or indigenous standards while maintenance of current MS consists of amendment, confirmation, revision or withdrawal.
